Terms & Conditions

important information before working together

1. Client Responsibilities
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all dogs, clients, and the trainer, all dogs participating in Zen & Zoomies services must:
  • Be registered with the local council and wear a current registration tag
  • Be up to date with core vaccinations, unless otherwise agreed in writing
  • Be physically fit to participate in training, walking, or enrichment sessions

Clients must disclose prior to the first session any relevant information about their dog, including but not limited to:
  • Pre-existing medical conditions
  • Behavioural concerns (including fear, reactivity, aggression toward people, dogs, livestock, or wildlife)
  • History of biting or snapping
  • Use of medication or behaviour-modifying equipment

Failure to disclose relevant information may result in services being paused or terminated for safety reasons.

2. Dogs in Season
Clients must notify Zen & Zoomies in advance if their female dog is in season. Depending on the service booked, sessions may need to be rescheduled or adapted.

3. Health, Safety & Welfare
Zen & Zoomies is committed to working ethically and compassionately, prioritising the welfare of every dog.
  • All reasonable care and precautions will be taken during sessions.
  • However, dogs remain the legal responsibility of their owner or handler at all times.
  • Owners are responsible for ensuring their dog is appropriately insured for injury, illness, or damage to property or third parties.

Zen & Zoomies reserves the right to pause or stop a session if a dog’s welfare, safety, or emotional state is compromised.

4. Training Approach & No Guarantee of Results
Zen & Zoomies uses a balanced, science-informed training approach tailored to the individual dog and human.
Because every dog, environment, and handler is different:

  • No guarantees are made regarding specific training outcomes

Progress depends on factors outside of training sessions, including:
  • Consistency
  • Practice
  • Environment
  • Owner engagement and follow-through

Training is a collaborative process, and results develop over time — not instantly.

5. Assumption of Risk & Liability Waiver
By participating in Zen & Zoomies services, you acknowledge that working with dogs involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:
  • Bites or scratches
  • Illness
  • Slips, trips, or falls
  • Interactions with other dogs, people, wildlife, or environmental hazards

You voluntarily assume all such risks for yourself, your dog, and any accompanying persons.

To the fullest extent permitted by New Zealand law, you agree to release and hold harmless Zen & Zoomies, its owner, and representatives from any claims, losses, or damages arising from participation in services, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

6. Public & Off-Property Sessions
Training, walking, or enrichment sessions may take place in public or semi-public environments.

Clients acknowledge that:
  • Zen & Zoomies cannot control the behaviour of third parties, dogs, wildlife, or environmental conditions
  • Public settings inherently involve unpredictable variables

7. Right to Refuse or Terminate Services

Zen & Zoomies reserves the right to:
  • Refuse service prior to commencement
  • Pause or terminate ongoing services

This may occur if:
  • Safety or welfare is compromised
  • Required disclosures were not made
  • A dog’s needs exceed the scope of services offered
  • Client conduct is unsafe, disrespectful, or inappropriate

8. Acceptance of Terms

  • By booking, attending, or participating in any Zen & Zoomies service, you confirm that you have:
  • Read and understood these Terms & Conditions
  • Agreed to the Disclaimer and Liability Waiver
  • Accepted full responsibility for yourself and your dog

9. Cancellations & Rescheduling
Zen & Zoomies understands that life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide as much notice as possible.
  • A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling.
  • Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged in full.
  • Missed appointments (no-shows) will be charged in full.

Zen & Zoomies reserves the right to reschedule sessions if unforeseen circumstances arise. In such cases, every effort will be made to offer a suitable alternative.

10. Payment & Refunds
Payment terms will be outlined at the time of booking.
  • Payment is required prior to or at the time of service, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Late payments may result in future bookings being paused until payment is received.

Refunds are not provided for completed services.

Where a session is cancelled by Zen & Zoomies, clients will be offered:
  • A rescheduled session, or
  • A refund, at the discretion of Zen & Zoomies.

11. Weather Policy
Some Zen & Zoomies services take place outdoors and may be affected by weather conditions.
  • Sessions may be modified, relocated, or rescheduled in cases of extreme weather (e.g. heavy rain, snow, high winds, extreme heat).
  • Decisions will always prioritise safety and welfare for dogs and humans.

Where weather conditions require cancellation, clients will be notified as early as possible and offered a rescheduled session.

12. Photography & Social Media Consent
With your permission, Zen & Zoomies may capture photos or videos during sessions for:
  • Educational purposes
  • Website or social media content
  • Marketing or promotional materials

Consent is always optional. You may:
  • Decline photography or filming
  • Withdraw consent at any time by notifying Zen & Zoomies in writing

No identifying personal information will be shared without explicit permission.

These policies exist to ensure clarity, fairness, and a positive experience for everyone involved — humans and dogs alike.🐾
